Hands-on Workshops

Candidates are required to participate in  workshops either at Norman Elementary School or TEACH videos/district-wide PD workshops.  Students who live within or 40 miles from the Austin city limits must complete seven (7) workshops (videos & district PDs may substitute for 3 workshops). Students who reside 41 miles or more from the Austin city limits may select to receive 10 videos (throughout the internship) submit a one-page reflection on each.

Monthly workshop focuses on the interdisciplinary nature of the classroom. As such, workshop presenters integrate the monthly topic, certificate alignment, and innovative technologies (iTECH) into each presentation.  Workshop participants build, construct, and create classroom materials rather than just sit and listen to a lecture!!!

Workshop Location: Austin area workshops are conducted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  The Crowne Plaza is located at 6121 N IH35, in the Northeast corner of IH35 and Highway 290 East. If you need assistance, call 512.323.5466.  The ITECH workshops, 10am-1:30PM, are scheduled at local elementary schools in Manor, Del Valle, and Austin ISDs. If you need assistance, call Dr. Q at 928-8423.

Workshop Frame: Each presenter integrates the specific topic scheduled with a  teacher's classroom challenges.  Presenters  guide participants in designing, creating, & delivering teaching materials for/to the classroom. As part of iTECH, participants engage with and are provided software beneficial to them and their students.

Workshop Schedule: 10:00 am-3:30 pm     Lunch Provided
